Quality & Safety Sensors

Consumers are increasingly demanding assurance of high quality and safety of the food they are eating. Governments are introducing new rules and regulations that companies have to comply with. Labels are proliferating, with their variety and complexity often confusing the end consumers. And in all cases consumers have to trust that the government and labelling associations will perform due control to ensure the quality of food, but there has never been a mechanism to verify it independently.

For many companies quality and safety control is often costly, while the benefits are not always clear, since records from sensors do not become publicly available. As a result most companies only perform checks that prevent safety threat in the short term and comply with enforceable governmental regulations. However, the questions remain on the long-term effects of the food we are consuming. As people are becoming increasingly conscious about the effect of the food on their long-term health and the well-being of their children, they demand a more detailed and more transparent insight into the quality and safety control of the food.

Food Blockchain XYZ offers a solution that will benefit both sides:

Producers will have a unified quality and safety management system connected to their sensor systems on production lines, processing units as well as in their transport equipment, which will allow them to ensure quality and safety of their food at all stages. Sensor systems can perform a variety of measurements, including material characterisation, colour analysis, temperature, processing as well as presence of biological organisms and minerals. These indicators are measured and controlled throughout the entire supply chain, ensuring consistently high quality. Producers can be certain that the raw materials they purchase and the finished product they sell are of high quality standards, while also managing their internal food processing.

Consumers can audit the quality and safety practices of food manufacturers, having access to the readings of sensor systems. They will be able to make informed choices of their food, choosing the food that satisfies their preferences in terms of quality, safety or environmental impact. Our solution will protect consumers both from the internal cheating within the supply chain as well as external malpractices, such as product counterfeiting. Today food companies spend billions into creating powerful brands and marketing campaigns. Tomorrow, consumers will see through the nice packaging and advertisement and will be able to buy based on quality, pushing the producers to invest those billions into better food procurement and practices.

Through our parent company Smart Security Systems Ltd, we possess deep expertise in development of industrial-grade long-endurance ultrasound sensors for analysis and characterization of food. They allow high-precision non-invasive analysis of food composition (such as analysis of minerals, absence of contamination and foreign bodies, uniform distribution of ingredients, softness) as well as the external structure (integrity of packaging, absence of tampering). This analysis can be perform on running production line, without having to slow it down, allowing businesses to ensure the quality of their food, without having to reduce the production speed. Usage of ultrasound-based sensors in food characterisation is permitted by regulators and is already used by a big share of food manufacturers. Our expertise in this domain allows us to both offer custom-made sensors or integrate our blockchain and smart contracts into the existing sensory system of our clients.
